Question by Renee: Can bugs lay eggs in furniture? Please offer me advice?
My grandmother has a house in the town I live in. Her house has been abandoned for 7-9 years, but she has furniture inside. The family has decided to sell the house and the grandchildren can have the furniture inside of it. I saw some nice antique furniture “all wood” that I would like to take to my place. However there is a rodent problem in the house because it’s been abandoned for so long. There are spiders, centipedes, and mice. Gross I know…it took me a while to be able to walk through there. Any who, I really love this furniture and I really need furniture. My question is can these rodents lay eggs in wood furniture? I don’t want to take anything but furniture home with me. Also should I place the items outside for a while to air them out? Please help me, I don’t know what I can do to prevent infecting my home….thanks

if the furniture is truly all wood, there is no problem. Just give it a good wiping down with old english or pledge. Insects can most definitely lay eggs in fabric however.
